Tax on Unrealized Capital Gains!
by Simon inso janet yellen, the us treasury secretary, thinks taxing unrealized capital gains would be a way for them to fund their runaway spending.. first, they claimed that the real cost of their nonsense spending was $0, so they were lying then or are lying now ("why not both?!").
second, they claimed that money printing doesn't affect inflation, so why not just print the money instead?.
third, the "for billionaires" is to get the feeble minded masses on board, those that live on benefits and vote democrat for more "free money", but the irs monitoring of $600 bank accounts is also apparently to target the ultra-wealthy as well.

Serious Question: Are You Hearing About Anyone With The Flu Anymore or A Cold?
by minimus infor years everyone was told they had to get the flu shot.
because the flu was dangerous and it could even kill you.
now, hardly anyone talks about the flu or having a cold.

just fine
At work we just had a cold/flu go through a lot of us. It was bad……..but everyone tested negative for COVID. I bet it was still included in the COVID numbers as probable cases. The Dr’s thought it was RSV.
There have been a few cases of COVID previously among our workforce. Only one got very sick from it - and it was the 1 obese person who works there. Healthy weight/habits are encouraged and supported by my employer and most take advantage of the programs offered.
🍺to Minimus - we are still answering your questions.

Get Vaccinated or Get laid Off
by StephaneLaliberte ini’m personally for the vaccine, took two shots and would take a third if asked.
but i know a friend of mine that doesn’t want to take the vaccine who works for the government and now is faced with this choice: get vaccinated or get laid off.
i don’t agree with this measure as it is totalitarian and runs against my core belief in individual freedom.. now, with that being said, what i don’t understand is that my friend still won’t get vaccinated.

I also am vaccinated but I think it should be everyone’s choice to do what they think is best.
Threatening people’s livelihoods because of differing beliefs doesn’t sound like a democratic society.
And then where does it end? Who gets to decide whose beliefs and opinions matter and whose do not.
Where I work less than 5% of us are vaccinated so it’s been quite a hot topic. The threat of it is just making people dig their heels in more…….. and it’s none of anyone’s business.

Jehovah’s Witnesses
by Iamallcool indo jehovah’s witnesses take advantage of people in their low points in life?
do you know of some good examples?
.

That’s how they got my parents. Both came from abusive/neglect backgrounds and had recently experienced trauma, without a family safety net - and there were the witnesses at their door.

The Stupidity Of The Biden Administration Knows No Bounds
by Simon inso picture this, you are suddenly withdrawing troops after 2 decades in a country and, well, its all gone to shit.. how do you ensure that your vulnerable citizens and allies can get out when the airport is surrounded and no one can get through?.
option 1: it's a trick question surely?
you don't get yourself into this mess in the first place - you withdraw the citizens first, not last, duh!.

The stupidity is stunning. Yeah sure we can trust the Taliban……. They have changed.

I know the kidnapping part sounds far fetched, but I have seen in my own family where the JW grandparents made wild DFS accusations against their DF’d child in an attempt to gain custody of the grandchild so that they could “save” the grandchild.
Of course the accusations were investigated and found to be false, but the hell it put the parents through was inexcusable. Never trust a JW.

Overweight Jehovah’s Witnesses
by minimus inwhat was your kingdom hall like when it came to overweight witnesses?
i remember counseling some people on their drinking habits.
a few snickered that if we were going to counsel them because they have had way too many at a wedding reception, what about very overweight witnesses that have a lifestyle of overindulgence?

When I was in 20 plus years ago, most in our congregation were not obese. We were all active and did things together that constituted exercise. There were a couple who would be considered overweight but not obese.
The last time I was “home” I couldn’t believe how much weight people were carrying on their former svelte frames. Most were on some sort of anti depressants that caused them to gain weight. Others were just depressed and ate their feelings. It’s sad really.

I think the process of waking up was so much different 20 years ago. There wasn’t the depth of information available, the internet wasn’t a social support mechanism like it is now. I know when I was leaving 20+ years ago debating the teachings was how I eventually got “deprogrammed” from the cult. Finding a tribe that was willing to question the teachings was so comforting. Most people leaving now, already know its all made up.
It’s different now.

Logical Fallacy… can I get some help here?
by DATA-DOG indr. leanna wen is currently spreading the fallacy that unvaccinated persons should have vaccines mandated because they are like drunk drivers… they have the right to be drunk at home she says, but wanting to be part of society at large without being vaccinated is like driving drunk and putting others at risk.
besides ignoring the science proving that persons who have had sars cov-2 have natural immunity that equals or exceeds anything that could be imparted from the mrna shot, without the side effects or need for boosters, ( sorry big pharma, you’ll be losing $$$ ) this illustration just smacks of illogical reasoning.
it reminds me of the borg comparing getting baptized to getting your driver’s license.

The part I find particularly ironic, is that the Libs are all about pro-choice when it comes to abortion, my body my choice. But not so much when it comes to vaccines. For the vaccines they resort to this kind of drivel. And yes I am vaccinated - my choice.
